Student teams are encouraged to explore U.S. University and National Lab energy technologies as the basis for their business plans.
The following links to regional Technology Transfer offices can be used as resources and inspiration for identifying promising clean energy technologies. Please note that teams are not required to have successfully licensed the technologies upon entry into the competition, but will be required to inform IP owners of the intent to use the owners’ IP to enter the MIT Clean Energy Prize and should demonstrate a viable path towards licensing the technology as part of the business plan. For additional details, please refer to the Rules and Eligibility (to be posted in December 2011).
The U.S. Department of Energy also has a database of technologies available for licensing at their Energy Innovation Portal.
